The VacationPads Guest Feedback System connects owners/managers and renters of vacation rental properties in a community that promotes trust, integrity and satisfaction in the vacation rental industry.
Guest Feedback is Important!
Unlike hotel chains where it's much easier to assess the quality of an individual hotel or motel based on the overall perception of the chain, judging the quality of vacation rentals is much more obscure since each rental is typically individually owned and managed. Many vacation rental owners/managers leave guest books or feedback forms at their properties that are available for everyone to see, but this does little to help potential renters during their decision-making processes. By letting guests of vacation rentals leave feedback for their experience in an open community forum, we're helping to (1) increase the trust and confidence in the vacation rental industry; (2) keep owners/managers of properties up-to-date on how their renters are perceiving their property; and (3) help future renters of properties make educated choices.

How Guest Feedback Works
The VacationPads Guest Feedback System is based on Feedback Keys. Renters of vacation rentals found on the VacationPads.com website can request a feedback key from the associated owner/manager of the property after they have paid for their rental. The Feedback Key uniquely identifies a VacationPad along with the Property ID of the relevant listing. Together, the feedback key and Property ID allow a renter to access the Guest Feedback System and leave feedback about their experience.
Feedback Keys are used to verify and validate a user's access to the Guest Feedback System. Since reservations for vacation rentals are handled directly by the owners/managers of the properties, and transactions are not conducted virtually via the VacationPads.com website, the feedback key is a way of letting the Guest Feedback System know that a renter has stayed at a certain property. Feedback keys are guarded by vacation rental owners/managers and are not publicly available.
A property's feedback profile consists of (1) a Feedback Scorecard, which summarizes the feedback for the property according to when the feedback was received and how the property was rated (positive, negative, neutral); (2) feedback text, which is a brief summary of the renter's experience; and (3) a feedback rating for each feedback entry received for the property. The feedback rating is based on a "star-rating" system (details below).
The feedback profile for each VacationPad is available by clicking the "Guest Feedback" button on a property's listing pages.

The VacationPads Star Rating Guide
Each piece of feedback left for a property also contains a "star rating" that judges a renter's overall experience at a property. All individual ratings are grouped and a composite overall, average rating is assessed for each rental property. The VacationPads Star Rating Guide is listed below:
Star RatingDescription
5 starsHighest Rating. These properties tend to "wow" their guests. The property featured original design, excellent furnishings, and well-kept grounds. Guests perceive superior value for their vacationing budget, and are thoroughly pleased with their experience.
4 starsThese properties are distinguished by great furnishings, a clean and uncluttered décor, and a very well maintained appearance. Guests perceive excellent value for their vacationing budget.
3 starsThese properties tend to offer a good amenities and provide many of the conveniences and comforts that guests were expecting. Guests perceive a decent value for their vacationing budget. Overall, renters were satisfied.
2 starsThese properties meet basic accommodations standards for guest comfort and convenience, but otherwise did not do much to impress the guest. Guests perceive a mediocre value for their vacationing budget.
1 starLowest Rating. These properties are somewhat neglected and the renter was unsatisifed with their visit. Guests perceive a poor value for their vacationing budget, and would probably not rent this property in the future.
When viewing the feedback profiles for properties, keep in mind that the star rating is issued individually by each guest who chooses to leave feedback. If a property receives an occasional lower rating, do not necessarily discount this property altogether. Keep in mind that each individual has their own ideas and perceptions about what makes a great vacation rental. If a property consistently receives lower ratings, then be sure to contact the person who left the feedback to clarify and fully understand any issues s/he may have.
